Jonathan Randolph Reynolds was 79 years old. He was born on February 13, 1942, in Fort Smith, Arkansas, to Donald Worthington Reynolds and Edith (Remick) Reynolds, the founders of the Donrey Media Group. 

Before starting his literary career, he was the understudy for the Rosencrantz part in Tom Stoppard’s “Rosencrantz and Guildenstern Are Dead” Broadway production in 1967. He worked on the staff of David Frost’s and Dick Cavett’s television programs before breaking into playwriting in 1975.
